Open-Source Software

I am fluently programming in Python, Mathematica, Ansi-C, Shell, (and Labview, if you want to call this 'programming') and a variety of other languages. Here you find a collection of programs I wrote. If possible, I publish the result under the GPL.

  • Random Number Testing

  • Bibber

Bibber is a software to generate HTML pages from simple BibTeX files. E.g. my publications-page is based on this script. It requires a BibTeX-database with no wrapping.
  • Encoder

For an online archive I was asked to provide a solution to encode their audio-archive to MP3 and FLAC. The script 'encoder' takes an input file and produces an MP3 and a FLAC with the according Meta-Information.
    Download the encoder here
  • AutoAP

AutoAP is a script for a wireless router, which searches around for open wireless networks and logs itself in. If properly connected, a ping to 'google.com' will be tried to ensure a connection to the Internet. If this fails, the script tries again to search for wireless networks.
    Download autoap.sh here
  • StreamBOX

The StreamBOX live-CD is a Knoppix-based CD, original for teaching purposes in radio-streaming. It allows (like dynabolic) to set up a online-radio-station within minutes. The files are hosted on Sourceforge. Please go to the original website to download.
  • Jogdial-Patch

    Sony Vaio, propriaetary Picturebook PCG-C1XD

Jogdial Patch, for imwheel and Jogdial Driver | .tar.gz | .tar.bz2 | .zip

  • Help to configure the Sony PCG-C1XD

Picturebook - some help to Sony Vaio PCG-C1XD

    X86Config | TextConfig | /etc/conf.modules | /etc/pcmcia/config.opts | /etc/imwheelrc | /etc/netled.conf | /etc/rc.d/rc.local

  • Diss-Template

This is the sample input configuration for my dissertation. The files are optimized to produce a dissertation at the ETH in Zurich. Especially things like the title-page and a nice produced index are a good basis to ensure a trouble free environment to write up. some goodies are included such as:
    - several nice links in the PDF file
    - meta-information in the PDF
    - different page-numbering, also appears in the PDF
    - documentation for sub-figures
    - wrapfig for floating figures beside the text
    - window for a sample calculation beside the text
    - timestamp to know the exact compile time
    - URLs in the bibliography
    - a nice CV at the end
Especially the PDF production with PDFLateX is ensured.

  • PDF Annotation

Under Linux, there is no super convenient tool for PDF annotation, which I need frequently to comment into PDF files, for corrections of graphics, etc.. Just one tool allows its convenient use under Wine, the Windows emulator: PDF XChange Viewer, a software from Tracker-Software
Only the old 2.0.XX versions work absolutely smoothly under wine. Please see also the applications data-base of WineHQ. They are even labeled as 'platinum', and indeed, I never experienced a crash of the software.
After many hours of searching the web, I was able to find back the old versions. They can be downloaded here:
    PDFXVwer_2.0.42.zip
    PDFXVwer_2.0.54.exe
    PDFX_Vwr_Port_2.0.42.zip
If you want to get a licensed version, I have no idea what you may do. The old license numbers start with 'PXP40-', unlike the newer versions, for which I recently bought a license.
